East Geelong Cottage Roof Restoration

True Blue Roofing have recently completed this new roof / roof restoration project in East Geelong.  East Geelong is a residential suburb of Geelong and features the 81-hectare Eastern Park.

The home owners were completing a major overhaul of the home including a complete renovation to the original cottage and new extension at the rear of the home.

True Blue Roofing were called in to bring life back to the cottage by removing the original cottage roof which was corrugated / custom orb galvanised iron and replacing it with a brand new Zincalume® steel roof in corrugated iron / custom orb.  We also installed a new Zincalume® steel roof to the extension out the back and the veranda out the front.  All ridges / valleys and quad gutters were also installed with Zincalume® steel.  We installed 90mm PVC downpipes to the house.

The original galvanised iron roof that we took off had been patched, siliconed and painted with bitumen, all the while still causing the owners issues with leaks.  It is always a good idea when completing a renovation to try to prevent your new investment from getting damaged by a leaking roof!  In this case roof replacement or re-roofing can actually be well worth the investment as you know the new metal roof will keep the water out!

The new roof installation also involved True Blue Roofing installing R1 sisalation.  R1 sisalation is used to add to the thermal performance of the home and also add a degree of noise reduction.  When looking a the R value of sisalation – the R describes the sisalations thermal resistance, how much the material inhibits the transfer of heat.  The higher the R value, the more effective the level of insulation.  Other materials offer a greater value R rating, if you would like to talk about insulation options for roofing / wall cladding, contact us today.
